Training on safe behaviour on the Internet for employees, initial analyses of IT systems, as well as the involvement of students in long-term internships - all this brought the first months of cooperation between the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and CTU Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The aim of the cooperation is to increase the information security of the top state office.
Four CTU students represented the Czech Republic at the Summer Olympics in Paris. We asked each of them a few questions and asked them for actual pictures. Individual medallions appeared on CTU social media, here is a summary of them (published by start date).
In July 2024, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports approved the project proposal entitled "Support for Green Skills and Sustainability at CTU in Prague" with registration number NPO_CVUT_MSMT-2123/2024-4. The project has been prepared for the call launched for the RePowerEU plan of the National Recovery Plan, Component 7.4 "Adaptation of School Programmes - Promotion of Green Skills and Sustainability at Universities". The CTU project was supported with a maximum total amount of CZK 59,142,000 in eligible project expenditure.
The Max Planck Society has awarded Dr. Marketa Icha Kubánková, a graduate of Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of Czech Technical University, the H. Neuhaus prize. Dr. Icha Kubánková is a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Light and the Max Planck-Institut für Physik und Medizin.
Agreements were concluded for the establishment of a new spin-off of CTU Faculty of Biomedical Engineering (FBMI) named Tonagena s.r.o. with a 10% share of CTU. Founded by scientists of FBMI, it is a Czech company for the purpose of commercialization of research and development results. The company's vision is to become a manufacturer of laboratory and industrial equipment for research and development facilities, and eventually a Czech manufacturer of medical equipment.
The eForce Prague Formula team achieved a significant success at the Formula Student Austria race, which took place at the famous Red Bull Ring near the Austrian town of Spielberg. The competition started on Saturday 20 July 2024 and ended with an excellent result, with the team finishing third in the Efficiency discipline and fifth overall among 38 teams with electric monoposts.
How to improve navigation in the online space in the age of artificial intelligence? This was the main challenge for 30 high school students at the CTU Faculty of Information Technology Summer School titled With Artificial Intelligence in the Online Space, organized by the non-profit initiative AI for Children and the faculty. Participants, divided into six teams, created projects focusing on topics such as detecting misinformation in the media, academic preparation of high school students, learning through their own mistakes, limiting time spent watching social networks, protection against pitfalls in the online space, and awareness against cyberattacks. The event took place from 22-26 July 2024.
At the very end of the summer camp intended for successful solvers of the year-long correspondence mathematics competition, the little campers discovered that their arch enemy is not a dragon, but a princess. But they also learned many other things.
The University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (UCEEB) of CTU in Prague, which celebrates 10 years of its research activities this year, has expanded its activities by two expert teams. The first one deals with Circular Building and the second one with Modern Energy. In total, there are now 18 expert teams at UCEEB. The Centre is actively involved in shaping sustainable construction. It aims to construct environmentally friendly buildings that are in line with sustainable development and provide a healthy and comfortable indoor environment for users.
On Monday evening, a meeting was held between Taiwanese MPs led by Deputy Speaker Chiang Chi-Chen, representatives of TSRI (Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute) led by Director Hou Tuo-Hung and representatives of CTU in Prague.
