The team that represented CTU at the Gaudeamus European Fair of Graduate and Lifelong Learning in Prague 2018 won the first place in the competition for the best exhibition at the fair. The event took place from 23 to 25 January at PVA Exhibition Grounds in Prague. The evaluation of the exhibitors this year was carried out by high school students themselves. CTU has been at the top of this competition since 2010.
On 17 January, the traditional CTU New Year concert took place in the Dvořák Hall of Rudolfinum. During the ceremony, with standing audience, the first silver medal of the Czech Institute of Computer Science, Robotics and Cybernetics was awarded. It was handed over to current Rector of CTU prof. Petr Konvalinka from the hands of the director of the Institute prof. Vladimír Marík and Vice-President of the Confederation of Industry and Transport of the Czech Republic Mgr. Mileny Jabůrková.
On Friday, 12 January, 80 students from the Opatov Grammar School which is a partner school of CTU, visited the Faculty of Electrical Engineering.
In the second week of December, Dean of the CTU Faculty of Civil Engineering, prof. Alena Kohoutková, and the Director of the Economic and Administrative Section of the Czech Social Security Administration, Ing. Jan Halíř Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. The Department of Architecture and Department of Economics and Construction Management are involved in the Memorandum, whose representatives also participated in the ceremony.
Secondary school students had the opportunity to join the 7th annual project of Junior Tech University at CTU in Prague. During the three-month individual internships on campus, secondary school students were mentored by our academic staff on faculties by their own choosing. At the final joint meeting of trainees and mentors, which took place on 15 December in the CTU - CIIRC building, the students presented their projects and then received certificates of graduation from Junior Tech University.
On Friday, 15 December, the finals of the 9th annual Robo-Contest for secondary schools took place at Zenger's auditorium at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at Charles Square. Every year, competing students are trying to accomplish given tasks with their robots built from Lego Mindstroms kits. This year, the Unstable Voltage University team beat the team from Příbram´s secondary grammar school, participating under the name Mindbreak2. The third place was taken by another secondary grammar school team,Kotrš, of Jakub Škoda Gymnasium in Přerov.
On Thursday, 14 December, the results of the CTU's best athlete competition were announced in the Bethlehem Chapel. Vít Přindiš of the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering was ranked first. The second position was taken by Kristýna Zahradníčková, student of Masaryk's Institute of Advanced Studies and third place had been taken by Bc. Kristiina Mäki of the Faculty of Civil Engineering.
The first public videoconference with the International Space Station from the territory of the Czech Republic was held in the building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the Charles Square in Prague on Monday, 4 December 2017 at 16.40. The technological solution of the transmission was provided by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. The program was organized by SCIENCE IN as part of the ESERO CZ project (the European Space Agency's educational office), of which the faculty is a partner.
Awards of the the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports In the field of higher education, science and research for the year 2017, were awarded in the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on 29 November, with the participation of Senate chairman Stanislav Štech. Two students from CTU were awarded in the category for excellent students and graduates - Martin Fůs from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering studying in the program Biomedical and Clinical Engineering and Ing. Filip Šmejkal from the Faculty of Civil Engineering in the Civil Engineering study program
On Wednesday, 29 November, the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, with the participation of representatives of the Central Bohemian Region administrative area, was ceremonially handed a monitoring unit with a ZOLL X-series defibrillator, acquired from a special subsidy from the Statutory City of Kladno. The ZOLL X series vital signs monitor helps to address all present needs of health rescuers in providing pre-hospital and hospital emergency care and has an irreplaceable place to teach and prepare students for this profession.
