Bohdan Zronek at Physics Thursday: The future of energy is called Nuclear - News service

Over 200 students filled the largest auditorium of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE) in Dejvice on Thursday afternoon. Bohdan Zronek, a member of the Board of Directors of CEZ and Director of the Nuclear Energy Division, gave a talk as part of a cycle of lectures called Physical Thursday. As a graduate of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Zronek first reminisced about his studies at FEE and about the time when he joined the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant as a fresh graduate as an operator.

In his lecture entitled The Future of Energy is called Nuclear, he spoke about possible solutions to the challenges the Czech Republic and the EU will face in connection with the gradual end of coal mining. According to CEPS estimates, the Czech Republic may face electricity shortages as early as 2030 due to the shift away from fossil fuels. In that case, the Czech Republic would have to import electricity to cover its normal consumption.

Zronek was not the only speaker at the event. Operator Adéla Chalupová, a Faculty of Nuclear Science and Physical Engineering graduate, shared her experience from Temelín in front of a full auditorium. She got her lucrative job by participating in one of the Summer Universities organized by ČEZ for successful students and graduates.
