On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics CTU, the institute prepared a three-day series of events at the turn of May and June focused on current topics: industry 4.0 and artificial intelligence. Industry-AI Days 2023 will not only present the best of the Institute, but will also connect science with practice, thanks to the National Centre for Industry 4.0 and the RICAIP Centre. The invitation was accepted by distinguished guests from the Czech Republic and abroad. Industry-AI Days 2023 is a combination of a professional scientific programme, strategic meetings of the top leaders of the state, academia and industry, and educational workshops for companies and the public.

Ten years is not a long time in the context of the existence of the oldest technical universities. Nevertheless, the Czech Institute of Informatics Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) of CTU has managed to make a significant mark on Czech and European science. Industry-AI Days 2023, which will take place from 30 May to 1 June 2023 at the premises of the CIIRC CTU, will focus not on past milestones, but mainly on the present. Distinguished guests and the general public will be able to witness, for example, the production of a model car at several locations at once, watch the control of a remote robot via virtual reality or check how robot-human cooperation works. Visitors will also be able to engage in discussions with government and industry representatives or get qualified information on the currently exposed topic of artificial intelligence.

"Mere ten years since its establishment, CIIRC CTU has been cooperating intensively with foreign institutions in Europe and is part of leading international networks and European projects for artificial intelligence. It is already a clear and respected centre on the European research map. At the same time, it leaves a distinctive mark in Czech science and cooperates with other institutions and industrial companies. It is involved in the interdisciplinary creation of technologies with significant impacts on industry and society. We have more than fulfilled the goal we set ourselves 10 years ago," says Prof. Vladimír Mařík, the Institute's scientific director and one of its founders.

During the gala morning on Tuesday, 30 May, CIIRC CTU will present to the invited guests the concept of distributed modular production, which is being developed within the Czech-German Research and Innovation Centre for Advanced Industrial Production (RICAIP). This approach will allow companies to optimize industrial production as well as to dynamically adapt to sudden changes. Using virtual reality, we will also connect to the partner laboratories of DFKI in Saarbrücken and CEITEC BUT in Brno. The programme will also include production demonstrations in the Testbed for Industry 4.0.

"The celebration of our anniversary is also an opportunity to thank and present medals of honour to personalities who have contributed to our institute," says Ondřej Velek, Director of CIIRC CTU. Last but not least, we want to express thanks to those who make the Institute what it is. And that is our employees."

The culmination of the first day of Industry-AI Days 2023 is the National Industry Summit, a traditional conference co-organised by the National Centre for Industry 4.0, which creates an open platform for discussion between key figures from government, industry and academia. A number of personalities have accepted the invitation to participate in the panel, including the Minister for Science and Research Helena Langšádlová, the President of the Confederation of Industry Jaroslav Hanák and the President of the Automotive Industry Association AutoSAP Martin Jahn. This year's event will focus on presenting concrete conceptual solutions for the competitiveness of the industry.

One of the Institute's domains is research in the field of artificial intelligence. Teams led by Josef Šivic, Robert Babuška and Josef Urban will present the latest research results focusing on machine learning, computer vision and intelligent robotics at the AI Symposium on Wednesday 31 May. The conference will be opened by Holger Hoos, a renowned expert in advanced human-centered artificial intelligence methods and one of the founders of the European AI initiative CLAIRE. The programme will be complemented by panel discussions focusing on trends and developments in the AI ecosystem in Europe. The invitation was accepted by Patrick Peréz from Valeo.AI, France, as well as leading Czech AI experts Tomáš Mikolov, Michal Pěchouček and Jan Hajič.

The first of June will be marked by Days of open doors. The AI Open Day afternoon programme is designed for the general public, especially students, but also lay people interested in AI and some of its aspects such as trustworthiness, transparency or impacts on education and society, . In addition to a panel discussion with experts from leading European scientific institutions, visitors will be able to see a range of interactive demonstrations and demonstrations with AI elements.

There is also an expert programme for companies, especially those that are just getting ready to innovate: during the Days of Open Doors of the National Centre for Industry 4.0 and RICAIP, the professional and corporate public can get acquainted with the ecosystem for Industry 4.0. They will learn how to create a strategy for digitalisation and how to finance it, where to find the right partners, technologies and innovation infrastructure. This event also includes guided tours of the Industry 4.0 Testbed with demonstrators of Industry 4.0 solutions developed in collaboration with industry partners.

Media representatives are cordially invited to these events. Please confirm your attendance by 20 May to the following email alena.novakova@cvut.cz.
